Paris’ Conciergerie used to be a prison. However, due to severe floods and climate change, the integrity of the building is compromised.
Pierre Delavie, artist in charge of converting upside-down display of architectural columns and vaults on this building created this illusion for Nuit-Blanche.
This illusion is painted on over 1,000 square meters of canvas. The focus is to confuse viewers’ sense of perspective.
‘This theme of rising water, overflowing, touches me particularly because it brings to mind a flood in winter, and the climate change that awaits us,’ the artist says.
