Walking On Water – Part II

Forum Forum Forum Forum Forum… oh, did I mention that now we have a forum online? :) Be sure to register and post whatever interests you there. Also be sure to check it, cause there are few more illusions hidden somwhere. In the mean time, here’s another “walking on water” illusion submitted by Kegan Drake. Probably the submission was inspired by one of our previous posts! Here’s what Kegan wrote: ” I have attached two pictures I took of friends of mine walking on the water. Thought you might enjoy them.”

  1. it kinda looks like a rock in the second picture, but i would probably guess it looks more like a drop of water came of their shoe and just hit the water making tight ripples.

    like the pics

  2. yeah.. looks nice, but i think they might be standing on a rock (you cna almost see it in the second picture) but nice fotographs

  3. anyone ever heard of ICE?? when the ice starts to melt, there can be a layer of water on top, especially if say it was raining too

  4. If he’s just sitting on a rock, you realy have to admire how long he must of stayed there trying not to move. At least for the first picture. There’s virtually no ripples (aside from the natural water surface being hit by the wind, perhaps).

  5. ITs A SAND FLAT.NO PHOTOSHOP NO TRICKS…IT’S JUST AN ILLUSION. TAKE TWO MORE STEPS BACK AND YOUD SEE THAT THE WATER GOES FOR MILES AT JUST AN INCH TALL. THE TIDE GOES WAY OUT GIVING THE ILLUSION YOUR STANDING ON WATER….

  6. the give away is that in both pictures the person is standing in the same part of the “lake”. def a rock of some sort. but nonetheless very cool pictures

  7. HE IS STANDING ON A ROCK BUT IT IS STILL COOL

yeah i made a comment i really did I am going to tell my mommy

yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

  8. My bets on really good timing. Kindof like the floating person pictures. There are cameras out there now that can take high speed photos. So why cant they be jumping in?

  9. if you haven’t noticed, there aren’t ANY ripples around him. and the thingy in the second looks like a bobber from a fishing pole. you can see the lakebottom in the first picture – he looks like he could be standing on something – except for the fact that there are absalutely no ripples (even something protruding would give off ripples from the waves of the lake) and the lighting on him isn’t right either. I don’t know; it almost looks photoshopped – some programs let you add rippled reflections to a picture.

  10. Nope…no photoshopping, no shallow sand, no ice (ice? in August?). Just a wooden piling about a quarter inch below the surface. The water is about four feet deep there and they are standing about 20 feet from shore. Made for a nice effect.

  11. Very cool pictures of guys standing on ice. The ice begin to melt and a very thin layer of liquid water stands over the ice.

  12. Why is always an arguement over what’s photoshopped and what isn’t? Who cares?! In the end only appearances matter. We are dealing with illusions here people. Not miracles.

  13. this is not PHotoshoped cuz there is a shadow, no high speed camara cuz rthere is a visible drop of water in the second and he woeld be going faster than a drop of water, it’s probably not sand so it’s probably ice in the process of melting.

  14. I’m with lonewolf on that one, everyone is arguing but K. Drake stated outright what gave the effect

  15. Maybe I’m a little slow of the mark but the submitter just said “I have attached two pictures I took of friends of mine walking on the water. Thought you might enjoy them.” Those are the pictures we can see above, I assume. So, what did he say about how he took the pictures? Nothing at all.

  16. Ok, people. Keegan Drake made the picture, right? It says. So, another way of saying Keegan Drake would be K. Drake, correct? So, if you read the post by K. Drake, you will have read the thing by Keegan Drake. He found a wooden piling about 20 feet from the shore, they stood on it, and *amazing* their walking on water. It looks really cool though.

  17. omg. ICE. If anyone noticed: they were wearing coats, so it must be winter, also shown by other trees w/ no leaves. rain or a thi layering of water maybe an inch thick covered the ice! Stand on that and ur walking on water.

  18. erm ice?? r u crazy its a sunny day nd tht is nt ice its water it moves! god its jst a rock dnt argue bout it its nt even tht gr8!
    x

  19. It looks like low tide, I live near a salt marsh and this looks like low tide to me, when the shore sand is so soft it absorbs foot prints, this could almost be my back yard!

  20. It’s low tide in a marsh, I’ve seen this same thing before many times, the sand is so wet and so fine, it doesn’t show footprints, if you walk slowly out you can give the illusion of standing on top of the water, even tho you might be 10 or 12 feet from dry land.

  21. Nope…no photoshopping, no shallow sand, no ice (ice? in August?). Just a wooden piling about a quarter inch below the surface. The water is about four feet deep there and they are standing about 20 feet from shore. Made for a nice effect. _K. Drake

that’s what he did. geez, he said what he did already, why are you people still arguing about this?

  22. Notice that the guy is all dark. I bet it’s concealing the secret to life! And by life I mean walking on water!

    Check Mode!

  23. I’VE ACTUALLY BEEN TO THIS PLACE BEFORE. IT’S IN ATOCOKAN CANADA, IN WHITE OTTER PROVINCIAL PARK. THATS THE GUIDE WHO IS STANDING ON A ROCK IN THE WATER. THEY ACTUALLY NICKNAMED IT THE JESUS ROCK BECAUSE IT LOOKS LIKE YOU ARE WALKING ON WATER IF YOU STAND ON IT, LIKE IN THE BIBLE STORY. THE ROCK IS JUST UNDER THE SURFACE OF THE LAKE AND THE WATER IS SO CAM IT DOESN’T CREATE A RIPPLE, AT LEAST NOT ONE’S ONES BIGGER THEN IF SOMEONE WERE STANDING ONE THE SURFACE OF THE WATER. I BELIEVE I HAVE A PICTURE OF THIS MYUSELF, I’LL HAVE TO TAKE A LOOK AND SEE, MAYBE I’LL SEND IT IN TOO.

  24. Its definitely a rock because in the first picture…teh guys feet are so close together it makes my legs uncomfortable..i know no man who stands like that.

  25. look, they are at the shore, and the water has just gone out, leaving the sand wet and reflective or a thin layer of water. you can see where the guy had his foot in the second picture before he lifted it up.

  26. It is very easy illusion You disconnect your parachute about ten feet before hitting the water. Your friend is ready with a high powered semi automatic Kodak camera and he captures one thousand frames before you actually hit the water. The guys are very good…they are very good at what they do. Well done. If they did it on land they’d be injured.

  27. no they just video taped the guys jumping into the water and took out the frame where they are right about to fall in

  28. They COULD be standing on a sand flat, or ice, or jumping in (but i doubt that), or even just standing on the water, but I think they are simply standing on a rock (or wooden piling or something similar), as many other people have said.

Why? Because they are both standing in the same spot.

If it wasn’t a rock and I was those guys, I would have taken photos in different spots because it would look more convincing. Get what I mean?

…oh, or you could just look at DNICE’S post… its hard to miss anyway.

  29. Fera Albi said…
Definitely a rock, both are standing on the excact same spot.
Let me see them take a real step… Gna!

Does Fera Albi really think that at any point in time, anyone anywhere thought they could be walking on water? I like the discussion on how it was done, but those that rubbish a photo because (they think) they know how it was done, don’t really appreciate illusions.

Remember, it’s Mighty Optical Illusions, not, OMG!!! PHOTOGRAPHIC EVIDENCE OF TRULY SUPERHUMAN ACTS!!!

    1. It looks like they are both standing on a rock close to the surface of the water.. the rock appears to be in the same location, just the camera angle changed for pic #2. it looks like a drip of water fell from the man in the pic#2’s foot (water ripples). Probably from walking out to the rock :D

  30. Oh please, I live ryt by the beach in Durban, South Africa, and I do that lyk evry day. Ive got about a million pics of that at home.
P.S: Vurdlak, I luuuurrrrvvvveeee your sight! Tres kief. <- (Kief: slang for awesum we use in sunny South Africa!)

  31. y cant ppl just be cool an say hes walkin on water?i dont care if they photoshoped it or if theres a rock there, its just an illusion.i get the feelin tht there are ppl who just look at illusions to find out how the ppl did it an spoil peoples fun.

  32. why would someone even bother to put this type of illusion up if its photoshopped or a fake? and who cares if it is?

the reason he is in shadow is because the source of light is not behind the photographer, it is sumwhere behind the subject.

I think this is a really cool.who cares about how its done? just appreciate the picture.

  33. Why not he be just ‘Walking on Water’ like the title. Jeesh, people just cant seem to just enjoy and wonder. Yalls think too much about how its done. It doesnt matter how its done, ITS COOL! Who cares about, “oh the waters low” or “hes on a rock” ITS A ILLUSION SO OBVIOUSLY ITS SOMETHING LIKE THAT, BUT WHY NOT JUST ENJOY!?!?!?!?

  34. omg, it’s not ice you morons. the second picture you can see ripples. i doubt that ice ripples. if the ice was that thin, they would fall through. you also wouldn’t see a shadow like that on it. omg i can’t believe people thought it was ice ha

  35. the photographer already sadi it was a wood piling a quarte inch from the surface…stop arguing…no ice no rock…WOOD!

  36. you can never tell. The first guy looks ok, but when you see the second guy doing something really goofy like that, you know he’s not concentrating very hard.

  37. Holy cow you people are ridiculous!
Did anyone seriously think they were walking on water? no. so therefore, stop arguing about how they did it… the term is ILLUSION! it means it’s something that looks like something else. no, that’s not webster, but I’ll get it if I have to.
The point is, the author said how it’s done. No ice, no rock, no parachuting into a lake just to take a picture and look like Jesus… they are standing on wood. WHOO. Just appreciate the fact that they stood still long enough for the water to stop rippling. Seriously, the guy with his leg up had to get tired.

Either way, quit arguing about how it’s done and just read the comments before looking like an idiot claiming you’ve been to this amazing sand flat or something…. derrr

  38. I have a picture like one of these where i jumped off a tree and the photo was taken, just as i hit the water. (i kinda ran into the water so it looks like i am running on it if you can’t tell from my explanation)

  39. they are probably on a beach, and the water is covering the sand, creating the illusion that he is standing on water.
    (i tried to sound smart)

  40. there are no ripples on the first picture and no person can stand still without shaking therefore he just inserted himself to the landscape.

  41. but if theyre standing on a small rock wouldnt they tilt? Yes! but No! theyre not tilting at all! im 11 so plz dont be mean saying im stupid! and oya this scares me like heck cuz i cant swim and if that was me doin that i would really faint and probaly drown d: D= great thing to say right? but if it was what reese says why is it that in the background u can see the land? i really doubt the the sand would wash that far off land into the water and create shallow wate i mean ive been in shallow water at the beach but not nearly as shallow as that! u can even see the bottom of their shoes!!! but really if he really is standing in the sun why is he not lit up at all as if hes in a shade but u see noting above him!! if it really is P.S. they made it look really real im kind of impressed of how fake it is to how real it looks but i hope its not p.s. or and illusion or wood or rock below it i just hope it magic or the angels of the heavens holding them up ;D d= hahahaha

  42. i think he jumped off a mountain close to the water and then they took the picture just as he hit the water. thats my guess im only eight so dont be mean please. it would be funny if he was Jesus though.

  43. They tested this on “Mythbusters” there is a piece(s) of wood that’s under the water and they are standing on it.
