Spoon and Forks Illusion

First time you glaze your eyes on these illusions, you can”t spot anything strange with them in the first moment. But after a minute or so, you shall probably notice that something isn’t quite all right. Both of these optical illusion are very simple, yet they hide an interesting effect. I posted these since their visual appearance and effect they provide are cute to me. Do you agree? Which one did you like more? 1. Wow, the fork has a funny 3D prongy thing and the spoon has the shadow of a fork! Cool! Didn’t notice fork prong at first, had to look hard!

  2. well, i think this is pretty awesome. i like the fork the best, cuz i noticed the spoon right away.

is it just me, or is there something else going on with the fork handle? it looks like theres some kind of 3D dip or something.

  3. I don’t understand the spoon one – its really obvious and doesn’t seem like much of an illusion to me =S

I like the fork one though. About the handle – I don’t know if its just the light but it does look like there’s a dip!

  4. I think the first one is that the shadow looks like the fork should be right side up rather than upside down.

And will people STOP saying “first to comment?” The person in charge of the blog decides if your comment is acceptable so you dont know if you’re first to comment. Usually you just seem stupid when your comment is second or third down on the list.

  5. actually, its not just the 3d stuff w/ the fork …
look closely on the shadow of the fork, and you will notice that it was created to reflect the forks position and not just a mere shadow!

  6. Ahhhh, yes…Another set of impossible objects. Imagine trying to eat with the fork. Would it even be able to pierce the food???

  7. I like them, but i definately think its not natural. I think it was in some way computer edited. because there is no way he heck the spoon would give a fork shadow.

  8. (coming here from fb) i like the fork one…it took me a minute to get it. the spoon reflection kinda looks like the fork in the first one…

  9. wow i really like the fork one. it is kind of complicated because at first i couldn’t tell it was a illusion and then after looking at it for a few minutes i had broken it down.

  10. Cool..it takes a minute to see it like you said..They are both neat to me..but I must say I like the first one the best..the the top fork it flat upside down and the shadow is turned on it’s side pretty cool trick

  11. I definitely prefer the fork. I also didn’t see what Karolynn and anonymous #12 pointed out until I read those. However, I have to agree with Junior and Anonymous #19; I’ve seen this kind of illusion dozens of times. I prefer illusions like the fist/ mother and baby one and the illusions painted on the wall.

  12. I Like The Fork, shadow’s weird, still can’t figure it out. The spoon w/ the fork shadown was a lil bland to my oppinion.

  13. I don’t know if it is just me but I see two illusions with the fork one. Firstly, the fork can not be a physical object as it doesn’t have a continuous surface (look at the prongs carefully) and secondly, due to the first anomaly the fork can actually take two orientations (can be seen upside down or facing you).

I haven’t been able to figure out the second one. Nothing peculiar other than the shadow of the spoon.

So, I like the fork better.

  14. Now that I try to think more about it (may be I don’t need to but anyways :)), is it possible that unlike the first picture of the fork, the spoon one is a picture of a real object and just a work of intelligently placed light sources at the back of the spoon (I think you will need three of them to get the three pronged fork effect).

  15. No Offense, but this is REALLY one of the worst Illusions (If U could actually call it one) on this site and I luv illusions

By da way luv da site

  16. I really love your site, and I enjoy almost every illusion you post, but I gotta say I was a little dissappointed today.

  17. omg!!! i get it!! the fork IS on it’s side and the prong which appears closest to the camera ISN’T REALLY a prong!!! wow, god i feel smart :P

  18. i liked the fork better, prob because its all shiney and cool looking! Muhahahaha!!! sooooo shiney!!! :) the spoon liiks kinda old and dusty, and has a giant bright hole in the center. (or radioactive meds that you give your kids to behave!) WE CAN ONLY WISH! XD

  19. I think the shadow of the fork in the spoon is much better, maybe because of the angle.

The first one of the fork looks fake.

I’m curious to know how this is done though, all the same!

  20. The fork is an impossible image – it’s kinda overdone. I like the spoon one better cause I’ve never seen that before =P it’s cute.

  21. to be honest, i think they’re both really crappy illusions. i immidiatley noticed a problem with each of them. i love the opticle illusions on this website, but this one really sucks.

  22. i don’t even call the second one an illusion…I mean is there something else except from the shadow that i can’t see? If not then its getting a 0/10 cause its not an illusion.
    First one was neat

  23. GOT IT!There are 3 illusions on the fork. They are:
    1.The shadow
    2.the middle prong
    3.the lowest one

To spot no.3,look between the lowest and middle one.

  24. FOUND EM!
There are also 3 illusions with the spoon:
    1.The shadow
    2.The shadow isn’t positioned well
3.If the light comes from the upper-right,how could the light reflection POSSIBLY be in the middle!?!??!?!?
    To anonymous:
the shadow is positioned so that it looks like the fork lies on the side.

    Hope I helped ya!

  25. wonder why no one’s actually realised why the spoon thing is really an illusion. It’s not because of the shadow. That’s jsut to throw you off. It’s because the effect of the light on the spoon is only possible on the BACK (convex) side of the spoon. Light shining onto the concave (curving inwards) side of a spoon should not appear this way, but the handle clearly indicates that it is facing upwards instead of down. THAT’S the illusion -.-

  26. the first i spotted was the weird dent on the fork, then the shadow on the spoon.

is it just me, or does the 3rd [lowest] ‘torch/point’ of the fork look almost indistinguishable from the lights? basically, the line that’s supposed to complete the 3rd point is non-existent.

and other than the shadows on the spoon [tell me you saw that] and fork [which tells that the fork is tilted to its side], nothing that major is seen. except the fact that they look like they’re levitating.

    i don’t get it… is that all?

  27. Hmm, the spoon is quite trivial (just a shadow of a fork) but I really can’t notice anything special with the first shot…

  28. The fork is impossible and the spoon has a forks shadow. I spotted that in 5 seconds and i’m 11 so don’t call me dumb >.<
