Magic Faucet Fountain

Seems like Magic Tap we talked about earlier isn’t really unique after all. I just found another “flying” Fountain photo. If you were here in time of our last fountain post, you’ll have no problem figuring this one out, but this can be interesting puzzle for our new visitors. Another thing, I updated 3D chalk drawings, afterimages and animations category, so if you have spare 3 minutes, check all of the illusion links located inside those three categories, and mail me if you notice any broken link. There shouldn’t be any, since I was really careful editing them, but still, thousands of us are surely smarter then one ;) Don’t know if you noticed, but we heavily crossed the 5 million unique visitors mark (check the footer of the site)! The succes is even bigger when you consider the site is up for less then a year!

  1. there is a tube that is behind the water so you cant see it
the water goes up the tube and goes down the ends
i know this because they had it in the ripleys beleive it or not museum

  2. meh, I am the second guy who made a comment… I guess the first guy was right. If you look you can sorta tell that the camera was purposely angled.

  3. Old trick. But still, cool to see a giant one.

For those of you that don’t know, there’s a tube inside the flow of water, holding up the faucet and bringing in water to pour.

  4. Apparently, there is something holding the giant. It is behind the water. Pretty easy for me, even though I never read a comment in this article, but I automatically understood the thing.

  5. I got one idea, the water coming out of the faucet is actual steel designed to look like water. I mean, the trick wouldn’t be any good seeing it live, but then, its more plausible than the “pole behind the water” idea for the sheer fact that: A. People can see it at an other angle. B. The pole would have to be pretty narrow to hide be the water, yet it can still sppot that huge faucet. I dunno, maybe thats just me.

  6. This is in my home town in Ypres (Belgium).
It’s the logo of the water company and it’s real .The tap is on a white tube and the water comes out around the tube with the straming of the water you don’t see the tube :-)

  7. Oh man, were you people dropped on your heads as children? The pipe isn’t “behind” the water. It’s surrounded by water on all sides. 360 degrees. Water goes up the pipe, gets directed out so that it falls in a big messy turbulent flow ALL AROUND the pipe, so you can’t see it from any angle. It’s not photoshop, or angle dependent. Imagine turning on your kitchen sink full blast, then suspending a thin wire in the middle of the flow- you wouldn’t see it from any angle.

    Jeez. Think, people.

  8. there is a tube thing in the mid of water and it sucks the water back up and out, i have a small 1 DUH!

  9. this is in florida somewhere, i saw it on holiday there years and years ago.. pretty cool to see up close!

  10. geez, some of you people are real jerks. dropped on their heads? stupid? would it kill ya to be a LITTLE nicer?

and cant you just apprieciate the pic without analyzing it to death? it looks cool, period.

  11. Ok OBVIOUSLY ITS HELD UP BY ALIEN TRACTOR BEAMS!.. ser1uosLy… people need to thought! jeez persons my oh god nead to yousss yuor bainreeee

  12. This is an easy one, they sell these at Spencers Gifts (just a novelty store).

There is a tube that sucks water up to the top where the faucet is and it sprays back down, I never figured it out until i touched the water.

  13. I think that someone just turned on thier faucet full bblast took a picture of it, enlarged it, and erased the tube. Tghen pasted it on the backround. simple as that.

  14. i mean like duh..isn’t it obvious that there is a tube supporting it???A faucet that big can’t “stay in the air”

  15. Haha.. I saw one of these outside a “Ripley’s Believe-It-Or-Not” store in Surfer’s Paridise, Australia. You could actually touch the pipe inside.

And it wobbled around when some kid shook the base.

  16. There is one of these in Majorca, it is very cool!
When I first saw it I couldn’t work out what was happening and then my Dad told me, I felt stupid!

  17. It’s in Belgium on a roundabout, there is no special camera positioning, anyway you look at it it still looks right. There’s one on one of the Canary Islands at a water park, I can’t remember which one.

  18. yep it is in the ripley’s believe it or not museum at 1st i was like whoa so then i was curious so i put my hand through it and found out that therte is a pipe in the water part it’s just clear but then i said W-T-F!!!!!

  19. i get the water stuff but someone please explain it to me a bit better about how the heck the tap is in mid air??!!

  20. there is a clear plastic tube running through the midde of the water and when the water reaches the bottem it goes through the tube back up to the tap. when it gets to the tap it goes back down and the cycle starts over again.

  21. I know how it works. It was on holiday once and ther was one. At first I thought it was loads of small poles, but its actuly a big pole which sucks up the water, and thenit bounces off the top of the tap(on the inside) and thats how it seams to be floting.
    oops.:S

  22. Yaaa, There is an acrilic or an polycarbonate tube which cant be seen. The water goes up and comes down by a motor in the bottom. I figured it out myself in a miniature version. LOL B-)

  23. they have one of those at this place near philip island here! (australia) its a really fun place full of optical illusions. like theres one room where its all on an angle so when you stand and take a photo it looks like youre leaning forward
and they have a room outside the looks like its FULL of water, and it has one of those taps running into the roof. (that place also has a giant maze. lotta fun)
    http://www.amazenthings.com.au/
it was about the most fun i have ever had, and im in my mid teens!

  24. the pole is actually going straight down from the faucet, not behind the water. the water comes down all around the tube so that u can take a pic from any angle and it appears to be floating.

  25. i also saw this in ripley’s in copenhagen. i saw one elsewhere before that but it was mounted on the wall so the illusion was mostly where the water came from, since the thin wall it was placed on was bare on the other side

  26. since a longer time i think 6 years my school class goes to this we saw it and i asked how it could be?? :D but the guy under me are right with his comment ;)

    its in germany :D

  27. There’s a pipe going up the water, right? I’ve never seen it before, but it must be. The water flows around the pipe and conceals it.

  28. it is either in France or Belgium but I think it is in France,, it is defo not in Germany cos my school didnt go to Germany and we saw it!

  29. Yeah there’s a pipe in the water. At the Kansas State Fair there’s one of these, and the guy will tell you how it works, but only if you’re not a kid. It’s cool though.

  30. Im doing a project exactly like this one byt smaller.how would i do it? i have already go my supplies, the problem is is that i cant get the faucet to stay of the pipe, and i cant glue the pipe to the faucet or the water wont come out.what do i do? please help! thank u

  31. There is a smaller version of a “floating faucet” on the Boardwalk in Ocean City, MD. As a child, I realized it was impossible and tried to figure out how it worked. I also figured there was a clear pipe inside pushing water through the center and over the sides. Now that I look back,as a child, I didn’t view it as something fun, but rather something deceiving. How sad is that?

  32. Its in BELGIUM, This valve is on a roundabout in Ypres ( ieper ).

Support from the tap is hidden by the fountain

  33. yup pipe in the water. ive seen smaller versions and i had to stick my finger through it and there it was a clear pipe. xp

  34. I saw one of these when I was a kid. The faucet appeared to be suspended above a barrel of water. There was a clear tube going up inside the water. Very cool illusion!

  35. Yay! I’m so glad you posted this pic! I drove around this fountain ( it’s in a roundabout in Belgium or Northern France) and didn’t have time to snap a pic. It’s fascinating :)

  36. I’m looking for companies that produces this giant magic faucet fountain. Can anyone help?
