“Don’t Step into Danger” – 3D Chalk Drawings

In Auckland City, over 70% of road crashes involving pedestrians occur on main roads. At least the official statistics state so. So the Auckland City Council (Pedestrian Safety) decided to take precaution measures, and used attractive 3D Chalk drawings to warn their citizens of the danger that lurks them on every step. The campaign involves Fire, Sharks and Snakes, and is titled “Don’t step into danger”. This decision greatly reminds me of Philadelphia’s effort to slowdown speedy drivers using fake 3D speed-bumps. 1. the most amazing paintings!
I can imagine a lot of people afraid of stepping on those at the first time!
Could anyone tell me a site with more of these?… a specific artist or something like that.
    Thanks.

  2. They(Chalk Drawings) never get old!:) Although the bottom two aren’t great…. nice sharks mouth but… i liked the bottom image more when i thought that was all ice and not water:) it looked sexier then =D

  3. when i clicked on the yahoo widget, it said no such page because of the apostrophe in “don’t” can you try fixing that when you make the titles?
also, these are great except i can’t read what they say

  4. Nice, but they look like vinyl stickers to me, with the lettering being stencilled in white paint.
I’d love to think of Ogilvy getting lots of street artists to do the work, but somehow I doubt it! :)

  5. wooh, i have the first comment!

Is this painted on the street? or in the street? I don’t know. It’s really cool. Is this real? or is this computerfake or something?

Please tell me! I want it into my room. xD

  6. Hi me again, i like them alot but if u saw them from the wrong direction you’d be like what the heck is that!!??

  7. good way to get attention- maybe if you put them at the start of the roads ppl wont cross… and if u put them in the middle- opposit effect….

  8. I’v seen part of a show that shows how he does it,first he makes an outline of it, then shades it, and voila! It’s done!!!!!!!!!!

  9. OMG THEY LOOK LIKE THEY ARE POPPING OUIT OF THE SIDEWALK IT IS SO WEIRD. I KNOW IT ISNT BUT OMG THAT IS COOL

  10. i would not have the patience or the talent (or the spelling) to do that…! :-o

  11. Cool… One problem though… Unless they put them on Every corner, wouldn’t it make things Worse…? I mean you’re on the opposite side of the road from the art work, somebody comes across and mentions it. You trot out into the road to cross the street to see it and… Yup, now you’re part of the “message.”
