In Auckland City, over 70% of road crashes involving pedestrians occur on main roads. At least the official statistics state so. So the Auckland City Council (Pedestrian Safety) decided to take precaution measures, and used attractive 3D Chalk drawings to warn their citizens of the danger that lurks them on every step. The campaign involves Fire, Sharks and Snakes, and is titled “Don’t step into danger”. This decision greatly reminds me of Philadelphia’s effort to slowdown speedy drivers using fake 3D speed-bumps. Remember that one? Be also sure to check 3D Chalk Drawings and Billboards category for more optical illusions like this one! The advertising agency responsible: Ogilvy, New Zealand.
woo first comment! very cool but worrying for kids
they are cool. but such illusions are getting a bit repetitive.
1st comment btw?
Wow those are amazing! very cool
the most amazing paintings!
I can imagine a lot of people afraid of stepping on those at the first time!
Could anyone tell me a site with more of these?… a specific artist or something like that.
Thanks.

It’s a good message, but it must look weird to people walking the other direcion

I love these illusions, there so great..
when i clicked on the yahoo widget, it said no such page because of the apostrophe in “don’t” can you try fixing that when you make the titles?
also, these are great except i can’t read what they say
Now that’s a wonderful collision of art and community awareness. Those Kiwis are creative folk.
Either the photo wasn’t taken at the right angle, or these ones aren’t very good.
That is NEAT!!
these are quite cool i like the first one best though
Absolutely brilliant
Great stuff! The old saying: “If it saves one…” Glad to see this.
interesting
Wow that’s pretty cool! Were they stenciled on or individually drawn?
First Post!
Very cool!!!
this is so cool, i wanna see more!!
Nice, but they look like vinyl stickers to me, with the lettering being stencilled in white paint.
I’d love to think of Ogilvy getting lots of street artists to do the work, but somehow I doubt it! :)
wooh, i have the first comment!
Is this painted on the street? or in the street? I don’t know. It’s really cool. Is this real? or is this computerfake or something?
Please tell me! I want it into my room. xD
1st one looks the best. WWWOOOHHH!!!!! 1st comment
oh my gosh almost everyone has said 1st comment and they are not even in the first 10 thirds my favee :-)
Hi me again, i like them alot but if u saw them from the wrong direction you’d be like what the heck is that!!??
not as impressive as some others…
the paint job kinda gives them away
good way to get attention- maybe if you put them at the start of the roads ppl wont cross… and if u put them in the middle- opposit effect….
Theyre nice but they lack the right perspective ….
Lokk at these -> http://www.shapeshiftermedia.com <- theyre awesome and somewhat of a standard in todays floor advertising.
I’v seen part of a show that shows how he does it,first he makes an outline of it, then shades it, and voila! It’s done!!!!!!!!!!
OMG THEY LOOK LIKE THEY ARE POPPING OUIT OF THE SIDEWALK IT IS SO WEIRD. I KNOW IT ISNT BUT OMG THAT IS COOL
i would not have the patience or the talent (or the spelling) to do that…! :-o

Cool… One problem though… Unless they put them on Every corner, wouldn’t it make things Worse…? I mean you’re on the opposite side of the road from the art work, somebody comes across and mentions it. You trot out into the road to cross the street to see it and… Yup, now you’re part of the “message.”
JUMP OVER DANGER!
