Mighty Optical Illusions

Siamese Suit Optical Illusion

Probably while browsing the Net (The Telegraph, to be more precise), Tom Jackson discovered this odd photograph. It depicts John Daly turning up to a photocall of former champions, wearing a multi-colored suit jacket. But what grabbed Tom’s attention wasn’t Daly. He noticed how the two old guys seen in the photo appear to share suits. Is it some kind of Siamese optical illusion suite, like Tom suggested, or was it an accidental optical illusion instead?

If we play a little, and practice media-manipulation strategy (something we already covered here), we can crop the photo and present it in a way that suits us better. For example, when you look at the slice posted on your right there shouldn’t be anything strange with old gentleman’s suit. But when you’re presented with the whole picture (below), after a little inspection, you’ll quickly realize how the suit belongs to another gentleman (one turning his back to the camera). What I find even more interesting, is when you solely observe the photo below, you easily manage to see the suit belonging to both guys at the same time. Now how’s this for an illusion?
